Hillcrest Camera Club - Outing - Sunset and Moonrise over Monteseel - Fri 2nd Mar 2018 at 6pm

Posted by Hillcrest Camera Club on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 Under: Outings

Hi everyone

Please join us for a "Once In A Blue Moon" opportunity to shoot a full moonrise and sunset at Monteseel.

You will get to shoot the sunset and the full moonrise, within 30 minutes of each other.

Monteseel offers scenic views over the Valley of 1000 Hills, the perfect spot to shoot the sunset and moonrise! The moon is a "blue moon" because there will be two full moons in one month. This is the 2nd month that there is a "blue moon", the first happened in January.

Bring cameras, picnic blankets, drinks and snacks, and enjoy a sundowner, or two.

When: Friday 2nd March 2018
Where:  Seele Street, Monteseel
Time: 6-8pm
Meet at : Seele Street. Meet at the rocky cliff area, where the mountain climbers abseil.

Google - Seeles St, Inchanga, Outer West Durban, 3670.

-29.734993, 30.681832
You can approach either from Hillcrest, on the R103, or from the freeway N3.

Important Info:

  • Bring a torch - once it gets dark, the edge of the cliffs won't be visible, except by torchlight.
  • Bring a jacket, as it may get chilly.

You can attempt to "track" the moon and shoot multiple shots as it rises.

The Photographers' Ephemeris data for Friday 2nd March 2018, shows the angles and path of the sunset (orange) and moonrise (pale blue).
