2. Set Subject – Shadows

This is a challenging subject, as it requires you to look for shadows and to work out what the subject is. Some shadows are vague and indistinct, while some are sharp and defined, depending on the light and sun. Its up to you to determine what will work, and how to present it appropriately.

Some examples:

3. Hilton Arts Festival  - 15-17 Sept 2017

Five reasons why you should attend:
1. World Press Photo Exhibition – photos taken by documentary photographers during the year. All the competition winning images are being shown.
2. DocuFest Africa – photographers speaking about their genres. Jodi Beiber, Matt Kay, Masixole Feni (currently exhibiting at KZN Gallery), Paul Weinberg.
3. Matthew Willman – Mandela Exhibition, plus he will be speaking.
4. N3 Tourism Exhibition – photographs taken for the competition.
5. Harry Lock – Exhibition “Out of Character”.

This is the first year that the Festival is showcasing photography so strongly. As photographers you should expose yourselves to all types and genres, in the pursuit of inspiration and information for your own interest and growth. This will be a perfect opportunity.
In addition, the rest of the Festival honours theatre, dance, music and art, which you can enjoy as well as the photography exhibits.

Harry's exhibition is in the Main Foyer of the Theatre, on the right, as you walk in.

4. Outing – “Bug Exploration” – Sat 23rd September 2017
