1. Photo Sharing

Here is what you need to submit:
1. Open
2. Outing (Shongweni Dam)
3. Set Subject (Silhouette)
4. Creativity
5. Troubleshooting

How to submit your photos:

 

  • Please submit your photos by email to: mailto:hillcrestcameraclub@gmail.com?subject=July%20photo%20submissions, or bring 8x10 prints.
  • Email submission closes 12pm (midday) Tues 16 June 2013.
  • You can submit four photos for either/or Set Subject, Outing, Open or Creativity categories. You may submit only ONE for Set Subject. You may submit one extra in Troubleshooting if you need some help from the club.
  • Size - Minimum of 1024 x 768 pixels, and not more than 600KB per photo. Please do not exceed this size limit!!!!
  • Format - Jpeg or Tiff
  • File names - the file name of each photo must follow this format: Category - Your Name & Surname - Title of Photo. In addition, please state your camera settings - Aperture, Shutter Speed, Exposure Compensation, ISO, in the title. For the Creative Category, please state what edits you did, eg. Photoshop Elements 10, Vignetting, added Overlay, saturated colour.
  • e.g. Outing - Blaine Ellis - Where Light Dwells - f11, 15sec, -1EV, ISO100.
  •  You can write all of this in the file title, it allows for a long title!!
  • Please make the subject line of email submissions "July photo submissions".

Please note: If your photo is incorrectly labelled, or named, and there is no subject line for the email, or it is sent after the deadline it will not be shown.
If you miss the deadline for emailing, you can submit photos at the meeting on a virus free memory stick. However, please be considerate and come early, by 6.30pm. Out of consideration to those who have submitted timely, we will no longer be accepting submissions after 7PM, once the meeting begins.

     

2. Outing: Tala Game Reserve - Sunday 21 July 2013

This is a sunrise shoot. Tala Game Reserve has a variety of wildlife and birdlife. There is ample opportunity to practise your wildlife photography skills.

IMPORTANT: Please complete the RSVP form

   EARLY ENTRANCE:

  • We have managed to secure an early entrance time - 5.30am.
  • They normally open at 7am, which would be too late for us to shoot the sunrise. The General Manager, Sean Lubbe will be specially opening the gates for us.
  • Please arrive by 5.30am, and we will enter after that.
     
REDUCED ENTRANCE RATES: 
  • Tala offer discounts to camera clubs, which is great!
  • R30 per vehicle. R25 per adult.
     
EARLY PAYMENT:
  • Payment must be made by Tuesday 16th July, to the club. You can pay at the meeting, or by EFT to the club account. Bank details here.
  • We will be paying Tala on behalf of the club, to ensure that we don't get held up at the gate. You will not be able to receive the discounted rate and pay at the gate.
     
DETAILS REQUIRED:  Please complete the FORM with all your details.
We need to supply Tala with a list :
- Your names, and the people in your car
- Vehicle make and models,
- Registration numbers 

    
 
* Normal rates are R60 per car, R50 per adult. These rates will apply if you enter at in any other time than 5.30am, with the club, and are not on the list.

BREAKFAST
We would like to have a picnic breakfast at 9am, at the picnic site.
-  Bring skottles, if you have. Please be prepared to share with those that don't have.
-  Bring your own breakfast fixings - eggs, bacon, sausages, rolls, fruit, yogurt.
-  Bring coffee and tea. 


        
Meetup details:
Date: Sun 21st July 2013
Times: 5.30am - Meet at the entrance.
Entrance fees: R30 per vehicle. R25 per adult. (Normal rates R60 per car, R50 per adult - these rates apply if you enter at in any other time than 5.30am, with the club.)
Breakfast : Meet at the Picnic area at 9am.Bring a skottle, eggs and bacon etc. Coffee and tea. Hot water.

Directions: 
N3 to Pietermaritzburg
•Take Camperdown (Exit 57) off-ramp
•Turn left to Umbumbulu Rd
•T-junction left to Umbumbulu Rd
•Keep left for 13km to Umbumbulu (R603)
•Cross the Mlazi River (3km straight)
•Take second turn left to Tala (Eston brick)
•Turn left into Tala; Wait at the gate.
