Hillcrest Camera Club - Speaker - Emil von Maltitz - 3rd May 2016 @ 7pm

Posted by Hillcrest Camera Club on Thursday, April 28, 2016 Under: Speaker

Hi everyone

We have an exciting meeting planned for you! Not to be missed.

1. Speaker -  Emil von Maltitz - Landscape Photography

Emil von Maltitz is a professional photographer based in Durban, who does commercial photography, as well as training in photography and Photoshop. Emil's passion is landscape photography, and he has offered to speak to us about this genre of photography.

Emil explains: "I'll be discussing composition in landscape photography, but through what I call, 'The Element Approach'. Traditionally composition teaching is done through the use of 'rules' which are used to orchestrate a scene. The problem is that the world as we see it doesn't necessarily neatly fit into these pre-conceived notions of composition. Drawing from approaches in painting composition I try to get people to allow for content driven composition rather than rule driven composition. This is done through recognizing the importance of frame, understanding elements and how to select them, and learning the basics of balancing the elements within the frame."
